Annual fundraising campaign aims to raise $ 60 000 to provide opportunities for children, youth, and families in Northern BC

On March 31st, the YMCA of Northern BC celebrates its 2021 YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, which ensures kids and families who have a financial need are able to access YMCA programs and services in our communities. This year, the goal of the campaign is to raise $60 000 to support children and youth to participate in YMCA camps and programs.

The campaign began with donations from every member of the board of directors and the commitment from many staff members of payroll deductions, followed by public donations toward the goal. YMCA MEGATHON surpassed its $10 000 goal, bringing the campaign total to $33 000. Amanda Alexander, CEO, states, “We are incredibly grateful for the campaign’s success thus far. Now, more than ever, our community needs our Y. We are well on our way to reaching that goal and ask that the community continue their support to ensure that all children and families can continue to reach their potential.”

To commemorate the end of the public campaign month, on Wednesday March 31st at 1:00pm, the YMCA of Northern BC unveiled their annual Donor Wall at the Prince George Family Y. Fundraisers for the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign occur throughout the year in addition to continued donations. Alexander ads, “This is something we work towards all year. We encourage individuals to continue to make donations even after our public campaign ends or to purchase tickets to support our 50/50 draw.”

We encourage donors to visit ymca.ca/donate to donate to the campaign. More information, including 50/50 tickets can be found at nbc.ymca.ca.
