Chetwynd, BC and surrounding communities – The YMCA of Northern BC is excited to announce the Grand Opening of the YMCA Chetwynd Care and Learning Centre Thursday November 14th at 3:00pm.

Open to the public, the community is invited to join the celebration of this milestone that will allow the community to view the refreshed child care spaces and learn more about YMCA Child Care.

The YMCA is the largest not-for-profit child care provider in Canada. YMCA Child Care programs use the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum. The YMCA of Northern BC Child Care Services currently provide quality programs for over 600 children from 0 to 12 years in Prince George, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James and Fort St. John.

The YMCA began operating the former Little Lights Centre in August. There are currently 3-5 year old child care spaces available.

Director of Child Care Services, Lynette Mikalishen states “We believe that every child and every community deserve access to quality child care. We are so excited to be able to be a part of the Chetwynd community and to continue this legacy from the Little Lights Parent Advisory.”

Mikalishen adds that “Our YMCA quality child care allows our centres to become a second home as our staff support children’s growth through each stage of development.”
