Massage Therapy & Stress Reduction
As a part of our health management services, you will find Massage Therapy, offering extensive experience in injury rehabilitation, treating chronic issues and creating a custom maintenance program for injury prevention or pain management. Massage Therapy and Shiatsu Therapy are beneficial tools to add to your health and fitness plan. Therapeutic, Shiatsu, relaxation, Warm Stone and Aromatherapy treatments are available in 30 minute, 45 minute, 60 minute and 90 minute treatments. Doctor referrals are not necessary. These services are covered by most extended health plans. Gift Certificates are also available at Membership Services.

Heart and Lung Health
The YMCA is committed to supporting individuals at every stage of their health journey, which is why we offer our Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs to reduce risks in a safe environment to improve overall health and quality of life through a graduated clinically supervised, individualized exercise programs; as well as a community of support through small group education.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation program consists of graduated clinically supervised, individualized exercise programs (aerobic and strengthening); as well as education, delivered in a group setting in conjunction with the exercise sessions. The program is designed to help patients recover quickly, reduce the risk of another cardiac event, keep a present heart condition from worsening, and improve their overall health.
Program Intake:
- Please have your Family Physician or Cardiologist fill out the referral form as you will be required to have a referral before you begin participating in the program.
- Participants are required to have completed a Cardiac Stress Test within the last 8 months prior to being accepted to the program
Our Cardiac Program Includes:
- Intake Assessment
- Fitness Assessment upon intake and discharge
- Fitness Assessment upon intake and discharge
- Individualized, monitored, graduated exercise sessions
- Education sessions offered online and in-person to assist with the adoption of healthy behaviours
- Some education topics offered include; healthy eating, symptom management and monitoring and smoking cessation
- Optional graduated entry into the YMCA’s ongoing Phase III Pulmonary and Cardiac Maintenance Program
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation program consists of graduated clinically supervised, individualized exercise programs (aerobic and Strengthening); as well as education, delivered in a group setting in conjunction with the exercise sessions. The program is designed to help patients improve their symptoms, improve their quality of life, and reduce the risk of COPD exacerbations and hospitalizations.
Program Intake:
- Please have your Physician fill out the referral form as you will be required to have a referral before you begin participating in the program.
- Participants are required to have had recent Spirometry (within the last 5 years) confirming COPD diagnosis or other lung disease other than COPD.
Our Pulmonary Program Includes:
- Intake Assessment
- Fitness Assessment upon intake and discharge
- ndividualized, monitored, graduated exercise sessions
- Education Sessions offered online and in-person
- Optional graduated entry into the YMCA’s ongoing Phase III Pulmonary and Cardiac Maintenance Program
Healthy Hips and Knees
We are proud to introduce the Healthy Hip and Knee program to our services to assist in recovery and improve overall health and quality of life of hip and knee patients through graduated supervised exercise programs.
This class is designed especially for people who are awaiting a total hip or knee replacement surgery, or those who have recently had surgery. The focus will be on increasing strength, endurance, flexibility and balance. Intake for this program is referral-based only.

Small Steps for Big Changes
Small Steps for Big Changes is an evidence-based counselling program designed to help you make lasting diet and exercise changes to lower your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Learn how to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine, and to make sustainable dietary changes.
The program consists of 2 phases:
Training phase: 6 sessions of 1-on-1 exercise and dietary change counselling with a trained coach over 4 weeks
Support phase: Accountability check-ins with your coach at 1, 6, 12, and 24-months following completion of the program
